Dogs must generally be at least four months old before participating in swim services at Soggie Doggie. Some puppy swimming classes may have different minimum-age requirements. Please contact us if you are unsure which option is appropriate for your puppy.
Yes. Every dog must complete and pass a Safety Swim Assessment before participating in Soggie Doggie’s swim services. If your dog is already an experienced swimmer, the assessment can generally be completed during the first appointment.
The Safety Swim Assessment allows us to evaluate your dog’s swimming experience, comfort level and ability to enter and exit the pool safely. Your dog passes the Safety Swim Assessment once they demonstrate that they can confidently and safely enter and exit the pool using the ramp. Some dogs may need more than one session before they are ready to swim independently.
Congratulations! You now qualify to receive the link that allows you to schedule your dog’s private swim session at your convenience.
That’s okay! We’ll begin by discussing your dog’s swimming history, comfort level and individual needs. This will help us determine the best way to approach the first visit. Whether your dog enters the pool during that appointment will depend on their comfort and previous experience. We will never force a dog into the water.
Dogs with little or no swimming experience will often begin with a life jacket. Life jackets are available during this introductory period and may no longer be necessary as your dog becomes more confident and comfortable in the water. We may also recommend continued use of a life jacket for older dogs or dogs that need additional support.
Please complete and bring all required forms with you, and make sure your dog’s vaccinations are current. A copy of your dog’s vaccination records will be required along with the completed forms. Your dog should be clean and free of dirt or mud before entering the pool.
Please bring towels for drying your dog and a standard leash no longer than six feet. Retractable leashes are not permitted.
You may also bring clean, floatable and non-edible pool toys. Please remove choker, shock and prong collars, along with collars containing tags, before your dog enters the pool area. Owners should wear appropriate clothing and be prepared to get wet if their dog needs assistance.
All sessions are private and exclusively for you and your dog unless arrangements have been made for a buddy swim.
Yes. Buddy swims can be arranged in advance. Please let us know whether the dogs live in the same household when scheduling, since different rates may apply. Each dog must have completed the required swimming assessment before participating.
Generally, owners do not enter the pool. If your dog is hesitant about entering the water with the instructor, you may be asked to assist in helping your dog feel safe and comfortable.
Well you can't fight mother nature! Please notify me as soon as you're aware of her condition. You will have to wait a minimum of three weeks before returning for a swim session.
We’ll be happy to help you select the best option based on your dog’s age, swimming experience, comfort level and goals. Contact Soggie Doggie for personalized guidance before scheduling if you are unsure which service to choose.
I accept cash, check or PayPal as payment.
